Brad Price PaintingThe Depot is pleased to offer a “Painting the Expressive Still Life” workshop taught by Brad Price on Friday, September 21, 2018, from 10 am to 5 pm.  A pizza and salad lunch will be provided at 1 pm and is included in the $90 tuition.  To enroll phone 405-307-9320.

Known for his expressionist paintings featuring bold brushstrokes and bright colors, local artist Brad Price exhibits his paintings in Santa Fe’s Meyer Gallery and other galleries in the Southwestern U.S. To view examples of his work, visit www.bradprice.net

Workshop students will learn to give everyday objects new life by painting the still life in expressive, vibrant ways.  If you tend to get stuck on the minor details, or you want to learn to paint more freely, this workshop is for you.  Through demos and exercises you’ll explore how to:

  • Create dynamic composition
  • Simplify the subject to the most important details
  • Use bold paint application
  • Explore color
  • Enjoy the process of painting expressively!

This workshop is appropriate for all levels of experience, ages 15 and up.  Some previous drawing and paint mixing is helpful but not required.

Canvas, tabletop easels and paper and pencils for sketching are provided. Students bring their own paint, brushes and medium.  Students are encouraged to bring a camera to photograph their scenes so they can finish their painting at home.

Gallery exhibits and artist workshops at the Depot are made possible, in part, by grants from The Norman Arts Council and The Oklahoma Arts Council.
