Bert SeabournBert Seabourn, internationally recognized abstract expressionist artist whose work is in The Depot Gallery through October 29, will discuss and demonstrate his painting techinques during a free afternoon Art Chat beginning at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 17, in The Depot Gallery, 200 S. Jones. All are welcome.

On Thursday and Friday, September 21 and 22, from 9:30 am to 4 pm, explore the bridge between realism and abstraction while painting alongside renowned artist Bert Seabourn in an Acrylic Painting Workshop offered by the artist at The Depot. This workshop focuses on creating exciting fresh works through the fusion of design, color, form and composition. In addition to painting techniques, an introduction to transfers and collage will be tailored to fit works of your choice. All students receive individual attention. Tuition is $120. Primarily a painter of Native American subjects, Seabourn paints figures, landscapes, and other subjects as well. As an abstract expressionist, he uses the technique of dripping, smearing, and splattering the paint, working in acrylic, oil and watercolor. For over 50 years, Seabourn has exhibited throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and South America. His paintings are in prestigious collections all over the world.

The recipient of several notable honors, Seabourn was designated a Master Artist by the Five Civilized Tribes Museum in 1976. In 1981 Oklahoma Governor George Nigh awarded him the Governor's Art Award. In 1988 his sculpture, 'Wind Walker', a 23-foot tall bronze was unveiled in Oklahoma City, and in 1997 Oklahoma City University honored him with the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters. In 2004 Seabourn received Oklahoma's Living Treasure Award and in 2009 he received a Lifetime Achievement Award and was named Artist of the Year by the Oklahoma City Paseo Art Association.
