Orquesta D'CalleThe June 5 Summer Breeze 2016 concert will have a Latin flair with Orquesta D'Calle, characterized by an effervescent charisma, choreographies, and interaction with the audience. Music begins at 7:30 pm. Bring seating and refreshments to Lions Park, Flood and Symmes, and enjoy an evening of free family musical entertainment.

Orquesta D'Calle is an eight piece band that embraces styles from traditional Cuban music to the newest styles of commercial Latin music. Led by Cuban pianist, bassist and composer Raul Reyes, the group is rich with multicultural diversity. Band members from Puerto Rico, Aruba, Mexico, Cuba and the United States create a distinguished sound influenced by the mixture of colorful cultures. Reyes brings an authentic sonority to the music by adding original arrangements and compositions to the repertoire.

The idea of forming Orquesta D'Calle arose in 2013 after many of the members accompanied the world-known artist Tito Puente, Jr. The same group, most of which are UCO professors or alumni, also had the opportunity to perform with the Puerto Rican singer Maelo Ruiz, one of the most respected artists in the salsa industry.

Orquesta D'Calle was finally founded officially in June 2015 by Raul Reyes in response to a need for expanding Afro-Caribbean culture and music in the Oklahoma Area. Lead singer Rafael Gonzales, who has won many awards as a soloist, including on the TV show “MDF” in Miami, joined in September 2015 completing the group.

Despite the band being practically new, its members have a wealth of experience, and it has been very successfully received in Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Texas. Orquesta D'Calle just finished its first single, a salsa version of “Bailando”, one of the biggest hits in commercial Latin music popularized by Enrique Iglesias. The single was recorded, mixed, and mastered in several music studios, including Congahead Studios in New York.

Come tap your feet to the Latin beat!
