Beau Jennings & The Tigers roar in to Norman’s Lions Park on the corner of Flood and Symmes on Sunday, June 17, at 7:30 5:00pm as part of the Summer Breeze 2012 free concert series. Note: We're moving the start time to 5:00pm so that everyone can still enjoy game 3 of the NBA finals. Go OKC Thunder!
After spending several years in Brooklyn fronting the Americana rock band Cheyenne, singer and songwriter Beau Jennings was in search of a new backing band upon a return to his home in Oklahoma. Enter The Tigers: based out of Blackwatch Studios in Norman, and a wrecking crew of some of the best musicians in the state. Already known for their studio work on countless records, The Tigers provide a powerful and dynamic live sound to flesh out Jennings’ sprawling songs on stage. At times channeling the energy of early Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, other times the more modern Wilco, Beau Jennings & The Tigers have begun work on their debut recording, the Sweet Action EP, to be available late 2012.
Jennings is also collaborating with filmmaker Bradley Beesley on “The Verdigris: In Search of Will Rogers”, a documentary film and an accompanying record tracing the life of Will Rogers across the United States. Beesley will follow Jennings across the United States as he performs original songs at various locations where significant events in Rogers’ life occurred. The footage of Jennings’ performances will be interspersed with interviews and other narrative elements to tell the story not only of Rogers’ life, but also of Jennings’ attempt to explore through his songwriting the inspiration he finds in Rogers. The accompanying album will include songs performed on location, as well as songs recorded in the studio.
Bring seating and your favorite refreshments to this family friendly concert and enjoy a relaxing evening in the park filled with great music!
