The Hosty Duo
Norman’s own iconic musicians The Hosty Duo will kick off The Performing Arts Studio’s 2010 Summer Breeze Concert series at 7:30 p.m. May 23 at Lions Park.

There is no charge for the outdoor performance.

Members of the duo are Mike Hosty and Mike “Tic Tac” Byars, both seasoned musicians who have been playing together for the past decade.

Hosty is known for playing multiple instruments simultaneously – the guitar with his hands and drums and bass pedals with his feet – and also is an expert kazoo player. Byars has earned a reputation as a master drummer. The two count Fred McDowell, Ry Cooder, Jon Wayne, Canned Heat and Charlie Patton among their musical influences.

The Hosty Duo’s latest CD, The Mousetrap Sessions, features such favorites as “Little Teenie Tiny Thing," "Eat Yer Mac and Cheese" and "Pterodactyl."  Previous albums include Hosty Duo and Hosty Duo Golden Country Hits.

The duo has opened for such diverse artists as Fiona Apple, Asleep at the Wheel, Hank Williams III, Marcia Ball, Leon Russell, Bo Diddley, Dave Mason, Dr. Hook, Billy Joe Shaver and Cross Canadian Ragweed, among many others.

Hosty and Byars also were featured on the Jimmy Kimmel Show during filming of the Okie Noodling Festival in Pauls Valley.

The Summer Breeze Concert Series is supported by grants from the Norman Arts Council and Oklahoma Arts Council, as well as the generous support of many local businesses, organizations and individuals.
