Jared Deck found out he was fired from his megachurch gig via text while working on his first, self-titled album. We’re glad he did. It gave him time to finish that terrific first album, applauded by Rolling Stone Magazine and American Songwriter. Then last year the 2016 Woody Guthrie Folk Festival Songwriting Competition winner put out an album titled “Bully Pulpit”, and we think it’s fantastic, timely, fun, and powerful. We’re so glad he’s moved to Norman and you’re going to love him, his songs, and his energy. Join us on Friday, May 22 at 5pm for Depot TV Happy Hour at www.facebook.com/PASNorman/live.
From Jared’s website: For a man who’s been on both sides of the pulpit, outsourced by a corporation, defeated in an election, and fired from church, the album title rings true. Bully Pulpit harmonizes Deck’s country storytelling with his gospel upbringing and blue-collar authenticity. “Through every failure, I never stop believing in the truth of my experiences, the man I hope to be, or my ability to reach any goal I choose. I move forward at all costs, tell my story, and hope it resonates.”
