Important Announcement

The Depot Gallery and office will be closed until at least the end of May, 2020. We will reassess at that time. Phone messages will be checked regularly and calls returned. We do this out of an abundance of caution and concern for the health of our community.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Mary Leader 2 240The Second Sunday Poetry Reading at The Depot will feature Mary Leader, winner of the Iowa Poetry Prize and the National Poetry Series award.  The free reading will begin on January 12, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.
The Depot reading will also feature a display of visual poetry made in collaboration with Margaret Wadleigh and Susan Laird, complimentary bookmarks, possibly pins displaying a motto by the author, and poems that spin and weave the connections between poetry and fabric arts.

Mary Leader has published four poetry collections, in the US with Graywolf Press and University of Iowa Press, and in the UK with Shearsman Books.  Her work has been published in prestigeous magazines such as The Yale Review and American Poetry Review, and praised in top venues including The New York Times Book Review and The New Yorker, which noted Leader’s “quite remarkable sensibility, which is one of the most self-possessed in contemporary poetry.”

Second Sunday Poetry readings, hosted by former Oklahoma Poet Laureate Carl Sennhenn, have been a program of The Depot since it’s founding.  The Depot is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to create and present excellent and innovative fine arts programs for the enrichment and education of the community.

All programs at The Depot are made possible, in part, by grants from Norman Arts Council and Oklahoma Arts Council, and by Norman Parks and Recreation Department.
