Important Announcement

The Depot Gallery and office will be closed until at least the end of May, 2020. We will reassess at that time. Phone messages will be checked regularly and calls returned. We do this out of an abundance of caution and concern for the health of our community.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Audrey StreetmanThe June 12, 2016 Second Sunday Poetry Reading will feature Audrey Streetman reading from her recent work. The free reading begins at 2:00 pm in The Depot, 200 South Jones Avenue. All are welcome.

Audrey Streetman is a poet and memoirist. Her new collection of Poetry Deep Calls to Deep was published in November, 2015 and was a finalist in the Oklahoma Book Awards. Her poems have appeared in Oklahoma Today Magazine, Blood and Thunder, Pegasus, New Plains Review, Crosstimbers, Common Sense and the anthology Elegant Rage.

Streetman began writing poetry in 1973, the genre seemingly falling into her lap as she began “much needed introspection.” Streetman has authored several previous chapbooks including A Gathering of Bones (which was also a finalist for the Oklahoma Book Award,) The Train, and Keeper of the Dream.

Former Poet Laureate Carl Sennhenn and Second Sunday Poetry Host says “The beauty of Streetman’s work is often delicate, filigreed, and the depth of sensibility and the talent that makes these poems possible can be described as strong and tensile.”

Retired from banking, Audrey now writes full time and authored the critically-acclaimed memoir, The Well, which details her life growing up in rural Texas.

A graduate of Durham Business College in Waco, Texas, Audrey attended the University of Central Oklahoma and is a graduate of the Commercial Lending School at the University of Oklahoma. She earned her living as a banker for thirty-five years, having started at Liberty National Bank & Trust Company in 1973 as a secretary. She worked her way through the ranks in a 1970s male-dominated profession, where she eventually became a commercial loan officer and earned over time the title of senior vice president.

Enjoy Mitsuno Reedy's “Dances With Brushes” in the Depot Gallery while attending the reading.

Second Sunday Poetry is a program of The Depot, made possible in part by grants from the Norman Arts Council and the Oklahoma Arts Council. For information on this and other Depot programs, phone 405-307-9320.
