An exhibition of the entries in the Doors of Norman Photo Competition will open with a reception from 2:00 to 4:00 on Sunday, July 1, in Norman’s historic Santa Fe Depot, 200 South Jones. The exhibition will continue through July 29.  Competition winners will be announced and prizes awarded at the reception.  The Performing Arts Studio invites the public to attend.

Judges for the Doors of Norman Competition are Bob Goins, Phyllis Melton Dowling, and Shevaun Williams.  Twelve winning entries will be selected based on quality of image, composition, quality of print, and presentation.

In addition to the juried competition, a Public Choice Award, determined by votes of visitors throughout the exhibition, will be awarded at exhibition end.

“We are celebrating 100 years of architecture in Norman, starting at the front door,” says Architect and Doors of Norman chair, David Boeck.  “Norman has some beautiful and unique doors.”  The twelve winning photographs will make up a poster which will be available for sale soon after the exhibition opens.  Proceeds from poster sales will benefit the nonprofit Performing Arts Studio and its programs, which include Summer Breeze and Winter Wind Concert series, Lunchtime Concerts, and gallery exhibitions throughout the year.

Doors of Norman sponsors include: AIP (Architects in Partnership); Kaighn and Associates; The McKinney Partnership; Craig S. Smith, Architect; David L. Boeck, Architect; and GH2 Architects.
Republic Bank of Norman is hosting the reception, catered by Abby Road.

PAS Gallery exhibitions are made possible in part by grants from Norman Arts Council, Oklahoma Arts Council and Arvest Bank.
