Jeff Tabor has exhibited extensively in the United States, winning awards for his work in competitions and art shows. His media include oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache and printmaking.
Tabor’s work “is characterized by his bold colors and his use of broad patterns that simplify his subject matters, infusing them with a timeless quality. His landscapes reflect serenity by his masterful use of light, while his Boston cityscapes portray in their daring hues the dynamics of a busy city,” writes Elizabeth Bradley, owner of the Artdail gallery.
His work has received national and international recognition and is among distinguished private and public collections, including Dr. M. G. Buthelezi, Minister of Home Affairs, Republic of South Africa.
Born in Clovis, New Mexico, in 1951, Tabor spent 17 years in New England and two years in South Africa prior to moving to Santa Fe in 2004. He received his MFA in 1975 from Florida State University where he studied with Trevor Bell and Ray Burgraff. Jeff taught painting, drawing and design for nine and a half years at Abilene Christian University. He and his family spent two years in the Republic of South Africa as missionaries. In February, 2017, Tabor was awarded the “Alumni Artist of the year” at Lubbock Christian University, where he had earlier earned his BS in education.
Tabor is currently the sole proprietor of Artist LLC and owner of the Art Exchange Gallery, with locations in both Santa Fe, New Mexico and New England. He operates both galleries and continues his personal art career from Santa Fe. Jeff says, “I am living my dream”.
Exhibits in The Depot Gallery are made possible in part by grants from the Norman Arts Council and the Oklahoma Arts Council, and by generous individual donors.
