Tom Kimmel Comes to Winter Wind Stage
Singer-songwriter Tom Kimmel’s lean, acoustic-centered concert performances bring rich melodies and fervent delivery. His songs, poems and stories reflect a poignant, humorous spirit. Kimmel comes to the Winter Wind stage in the Norman Depot, 200 S. Jones, on Sunday, November 6, at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $15.

A respected performer and recording artist, Kimmel is perhaps best known as a songwriter, as his compositions have been recorded by many popular artists, including Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Linda Ronstadt, Joe Cocker and Randy Travis. His songs have also been featured in television shows including Miami Vice, Touched By An Angel and Dawson’s Creek—and in films including Twins, Runaway Bride and Serendipity.
Once an eclectic rock and roller, Kimmel found his voice as a singer-songwriter while touring with Nanci Griffith in the early 90’s. A New Folk winner at the Kerrville Folk Festival in ‘93, he began performing solo and continues to tour widely. He has released seven solo albums, published a book of poems and led songwriting workshops and classes around the country and in Europe.
"Kimmel has a pungent, Southern-inflected voice, dark good looks, a commanding stage presence...and a highly imagistic body of work delivered with drama and authority." (Austin American-Statesman) He speaks eloquently of love and awareness, relationship, and devotion, often from a humorous perspective.
