Larry HammettThe Larry Hammett Trio will be featured at Sunday Jazz at the Depot on May 12. The concert, in the Norman Depot, 200 S. Jones, begins at 7:30 pm. Joining Hammett on guitar will be Dennis Borycki on keyboards and Mark Giammario on drums. Tickets are $10 adults, $7 for students. Light refreshments are provided.

Hammett is currently coordinator of guitar studies at The University of Oklahoma, directing one of the most successful guitar programs in the country. Recognized as expert in both classical and jazz guitar, Hammett has been performing professionally since the age of 16.

Larry became one of three select students to teach guitar at Montana State University in 1982 while studying with Christopher Parkening. He earned a masters degree in Guitar Performance from Texas Tech University under Dr. James Bogle and taught at Texas Tech University and Midland College from 1984 to 1991. Hammett joined the University of Oklahoma faculty in 1991. His recordings and compositions are aired worldwide and he gives over sixty performances annually both as a classical soloist and with his jazz trio.

Dennis Borycki has been teaching piano and keyboards for the University of Central Oklahoma since 2010, currently as instructor of Applied Jazz Piano at the UCO Jazz Lab. He brings a wide depth of musical experiences to his teaching skills, and has played with some of the country's top artists and session players. Borycki earned a Masters degree in organ performance from Oklahoma University. His musical focus now centers upon writing original music, playing recording sessions and local music venues, in addition to teaching an enthusiastic group of keyboard students.

Mark Giammario is a percussionist and composer with extensive musical experience in the Philadelphia, New York City, and Oklahoma City metropolitan areas. This experience includes a wide variety of genres and styles including, but not limited to jazz, orchestral, rock, Caribbean, Afro-Cuban and seventeenth century Spanish music. Mark holds a Masters in Music Performance from the University of Central Oklahoma and works professionally as a freelance musician.

Tickets for the Sunday Jazz performance are available at the Norman Depot. Office and Gallery hours are 8:00 am to 3:00 pm Tuesday through Friday and from 10:00 to noon on Saturday. For additional information, phone 405 307-9320.
